3+ Hours - Joe Martin Loop
Length = +/- 53 miles.
Terrain = Hilly.
Scenery = Moderate to good.
Joe Martin Loop (State Course) - This loop is the site of the road race stage of the
Joe Martin Memorial Stage Race held in May each year. Possibly one of the hardest rides around, this course
offers the rider several challenging rolling hills and one very difficult and long climb containing a steep known
locally as "The Wall". Traffic is usually light for the entire duration of this rural route.
To get to the start of the Joe Martin Loop, see the section above on the Hogeye Ride. Once you have arrived in
downtown Hogeye, turn left at the intersection of State Hwys. 156 & 265 and head towards West Fork. About 1 mile
after making this left turn, you will encounter "The Wall." Follow Hwy. 156 for another mile until it intersects State
Hwy. 170. Turn right onto St. Hwy. 170 and follow this highway for approx. 10 miles until its intersection with St. Hwy
265. Turn right onto St. Hwy. 265 back towards Strickler. Follow St. Hwy. 265 for 11 miles back to downtown Hogeye.
Follow Hwy. 265 back to Fayetteville. Hint: Stop at the Hogeye Mall for a Coke and a Snickers before returning back to
Fayetteville.
