3+ Hours - Turner Bend Classic (Down and Back)
Length = +/- 92 miles.
Terrain = Hilly & demanding.
Scenery = Excellent.
Turner Bend Classic (Down and Back) - Once a much heralded classic ride in the
early spring months, this ride has fallen by the wayside in recent years. As the name implies, this
ride takes you down a section of The Pig Trail to Turner Bend and the Mulberry River. This is a
very demanding ride with several demanding climbs along the way. Scenery is excellent for the better part of the
voyage with a small amount of rural development dotting the landscape along Hwys. 16 & 23.
Once you enter the Ozark National Forest on Hwy. 23 and continue on to Turner Bend, you will find few stretches
of road in the State of Arkansas that match its beauty.
From FBC, find your way down to the south part of town to St. Hwy. 16. Follow Hwy. 16 East/Southeast for several
miles until you come to the community of Brashears and the intersection of Hwy. 16 & Hwy. 23. Turn south or right
onto Hwy. 23 and continue south until you come to the Mulberry River and the Turner Bend Store. Stop for a Coke
and a Snickers at the store before you begin your return trip back to Fayetteville. To get home, simply turn around
and head back the way you came.
